Certificate in Hospitality and Catering
The hospitality industry is one of the largest industries in the world. This course is tailored to meet the demand for workforce in the industry.
Certificate in Hospitality and Catering takes a duration of six months. It provides skills in culinary art, enabling students to work in hospitality establishments, Catering Outlets and Events Companies. Teaching methods involve lectures, group discussions and practical cookery, where students prepare different cuisines under the guidance of tutors, and serve the food and drinks to seated guests.s Practicals are done every Wednesday and Friday. Food materials for practicals are provided by the institution.
The course consists of six modules namely; Food and Beverage Production, Food and Beverage service, Housekeeping Operations, Front Office Operations, Entrepreneurship and Information Communication Technology.
After three months of classwork, students are posted to various hotels for industrial attachments, either in Eldoret, Kisumu or Nakuru. Most students secure jobs during and after their attachment. A certificate is issued upon graduation.
